I’m pretty ambivalent about Politcs. I’m a registered Republican but voted for Ross Perot in the 90’s. Politcs pretty much disgusts me. I think everyone’s dirty and being bribed. Last election I didn’t even vote in protest. I didn’t vote because we don’t actually elect our president. I said I wouldn’t vote until we abolished the electoral college. Because if Gore won the popular vote, but Bush won the election, that means that the people did not elect our president. Ergo, doesn’t matter who I vote for, the electoral college is still going to do whatever the hell they please. Again, I’m disgusted with the whole thing.
I’ve only had one candidate in mind for the 2008 election. Drumroll please….that candidate is AnyonebutHilary. I hated the Clintons. I think Bill is the lowest of human beings on the planet. I don’t want him or his kind in the white house again. He sets a terrible example as a human being for the youth of America (Monica scandal) and it’s my opinion that he let Osama bin Laden get away. Soooo, in my AnyonebutHilary campaign, I hadn’t been really paying attention to the candidates or their issues. I found the following matrix on MSNBC where you compare how you stand on the issues with each candidate. So I filled that sucker out and was surprised to discover that my first choice is Mitt Romney and second choice is Barak Obama. To my surprise, I’m pretty indifferent to McCain and Guiliani, although Guiliani is the better of the two lesser of the evils.

So in my AnyonebutHilary campaign, I’m now hoping for an Obama vs. Romney showdown. And I pray to God that Obama selects AnyonebutHilary for his running mate. Because I could live with either candidate.
Ok. I’m done getting all political on your ass, go see how you fare…..

Looks like I lean heavily on Romney too. Which is odd. I took one of these tests on a different website and I leaned towards Ron Paul! Eh, I’m just bummed because my candidate of choice, Fred Thompson, is no longer in the running.

Whoa! Never realized you were Republican.
So I did the matrix. Had you asked me before, I would have said I had McCain or Guiliani leanings. However, like you,I’m suprising much closer to Romney and Huckabee (and Obama on the Dem side). That’s pretty shocking to me. I never would have guessed I would choose the religious guys–especially with my ex-mormon background.
Although I noted that big issues like abortion/pro-life and gay marriage were suprisingly missing as well as views on supreme court nominations (strict constuctionist?)
I also would have liked to weight the issues since some are more important to me than others.
Thanks for the thought provoking post.

Jenefur- lol! It’s really the only way to go.
Jesse- Hilary? Really? You don’t almost fall off your chair when you bring up her hideous face? Her voice isn’t like nails on a chalkboard to you? Go ahead. Check. I’ll wait. ;D
Scout- Yeah. I’m totally Republican. But I am pro-choice- and pro-gay marriage- it’s a problem when you’re a Republican. I thought I had Guiliani and McCain leanings too.
As Steve pointed out, it’s a good jumping off point, as he was surprised by his results too. The interesting thing about the matrix is that it takes out your personal preferences and just looks at issues. (Remember the Nixon-Kennedy debate?)

Nope she doesn’t scare me at all
I just don’t like Obama…there is something off about him. I firmly believe he has lots of skeletons in his closet, and i just cant get myself to vote republican..At least with Hilary, Bill will be there to fix everything if it goes to hell (she cant do worse than Bush, eh?)What I am hoping for is Bloomberg to run a Independent Campaign. I would SOOOO vote for him over hilary..
