It’s a conspiracy…

Still hurts to type. Typing s-l-o-w-l-y so as not to move my wrist so much. New advice, people: When black belts try to kick you? RUN AWAY! When black belts built like oxen try to kick you? Run like the wind, Bullseye! So yeah. Kung Fu black belt (he’s a black belt in both Kung Fu and Karate) has been working with me on moving right or left or blocking when someone big moves in on me instead of moving backwards. So on Saturday, when Oxen black belt comes in with a combination starting with a front kick that would stop a bus? I blocked it. And I blocked it hard. Then I hard blocked two punches that could be used as battering rams. And then I realized that my wrist was screaming in pain. So I did what anyone would do in this situation. I switched feet and fought with my right side forward instead, trying to protect my left wrist. Um, yeah. I didn’t stop fighting. Sigh. And it HURTS. Finally broke down and am going to the doctor today. My threshold was if the pain kept me up again last night. Sigh.
My Karate Sensei has been working with me on “hit them if they move.” I had practiced good “hit them if they move.” Until? I fought with a black belt who is a black belt in Karate AND Tae Kwan Do. And she is FAST. I mean, lightning fast. It was hard to hit her when she first moved. And she came in with kicks to my head. So I walked out of class and said to Sensei “So, um….we covered ‘hit ‘em if they move’ but what if they come in with a kick that’s longer than my arms and they’re super fast?” He looks at me and says with a huge grin “Still hit ‘em when they move.” I ponder this for a second and said “I still couldn’t hit her before she kicked me. She was too fast.” He laughs and says “Well don’t be so S-L-O-W.” I rolled my eyes “Ok, you’ve met me, right? And you’ve met Lisa, right? I got kicked repeatedly.” Lisa’s standing right behind Sensei. He turns and grins at her. “Oooohhhhh? It was YOU?” She sheepishly nods. He turns back to me a grins and says “You should still hit her when she moves.” Then he laughs his head off. HA. HA. Sensei. I’ve seen him try to hit her when she moves. It’s no easy task.
So between “hit them when they move” and “don’t move backwards” I am one injured puppy. Every joint in my body hurts. I think the Senseis have had a meeting and decided to teach me every little thing that will get my ass kicked by mixed martial arts black belts. It’s a conspiracy.
Oh and Lisa says to me right as I’m leaving? “Don’t give up on the new things yet. Keep Trying.” Sigh. Oxen said “You just keep showing up every single Saturday. It WILL pay off.” Every. Single. Saturday. To get my ass kicked…..

Have you thought about pursuing bingo as a hobby, instead?

So tell us again why you are doing this? Not for your health I am assuming. Think about shooting. It’s easier on your body and you can hit them when they move from much further away.

Ha ha. When black belts kick you? Um, if black belts are in the same room, I’d be running away…

Why don’t you hit them with your purse instead? Maybe a tampon will stick them in the eye…
